Turmeric, also known as kurkuma, is related to ginger. This ground rhizome gives a familiar orange-yellow colour and slightly bitter and slightly spicy flavour to curry powder and all kinds of Asian and North African dishes. Delicious tip: add half a teaspoon of turmeric to rice while cooking for a beautiful colour and an exotic flavour.

Turmeric is also used to make golden milk, a warming spiced drink made (vegetable) milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and cardamom.
