Oblong baking ring with rounded ends for making slof (a traditional Dutch cake halfway between a cake and a biscuit). A baking ring has no base. Roll out your dough, place the ring on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper and line the inside of the baking ring with the dough (this is a French technique known as 'foncer'). Then you can add the filling.
You can also use the ring as a mould for dishes while serving, such as a rice or a tartar.
