Ground coriander is the finely ground seed of the coriander plant (which is from the same family as carrot, celery and parsley), with the fresh leaf also being widely used in cooking. The round seeds taste spicier and sweeter than the leaves. Coriander is a popular choice in Asian and N.-African dishes in particular. It is also delicious when used in bread, pastries and chutneys.

Tip: toast the seeds in a dry frying pan before use to get extra aroma and flavour. You can then use them whole or grind them using your pestle and mortar.
